Christmas Eve Call with You (Coyhaique), December 24, 2025
Short call dominated by three Coyhaique miracle stories from the last couple of days. Four hermanas were spending Christmas together at your apartment so the audio was chaotic. Connection issues throughout.
Miracle 1 - the witchcraft investigator
A previously eager investigator had cooled and didn't want to be baptized. You and Juncker dropped by; she let you in, brought out her Book of Mormon, sat down, and said "okay, let's talk." When you asked why she no longer wanted to be baptized, the woman launched into a long Spanish explanation about not feeling worthy - she didn't feel she could join a church full of pure, good people while she had been "doing witchcraft" to try to save her drug-addicted brother (something involving chickens, animals, and blood). She finished her story with a joke about it. You were caught off guard; you did not have a ready answer. Juncker flipped through the Book of Mormon and landed on 2 Nephi 26:33 (the "all are alike unto God" passage). You followed with Moroni's miracle scriptures. You asked the woman how she felt. She covered her face, looked down, and started to cry. She then said, on her own: "Am I getting baptized this Sunday? Are we going to baptize me this Sunday?" You redirected her to pray about a date and you'd come back. From "doesn't feel worthy" to "let me get baptized" in one visit.
Miracle 2 - Jonathan came to church on his own
Jonathan - a friend you and Juncker had been working with - came to church on his own (no need for you to pick him up). The talks happened to be about temples; he asked questions afterward. You plan to invite him to a baptismal date this week if you can get a meeting (he's busy with work).
Miracle 3 - the spontaneous "I want to get baptized"
This morning, an appointment fell through. You and Juncker walked over to door-knock at an inactive member's house. The inactive member's son answered. You chatted. You asked him: "How can you be more happy?" You read a Book of Mormon verse about the gift of the Holy Ghost. You told him that when his mom was baptized she received that gift. He responded: "I want this." When you started to talk about baptism, he stopped you and said straight up: "Actually, I want to get baptized." You extended the invitation; he accepted. Confirmed to come to church Sunday; you gave him a Book of Mormon. He texted you later: "See you at church."
