Granite Spire Hike Call with You (Coyhaique), February 9, 2026
Short Monday call from the top of a 3,280-foot granite spire near Coyhaique. The same hike you did at New Year's took six hours and didn't reach the summit; this time it took an hour and a half because the group was four people who can all actually hike. Cold, windy, steep.
The granite spire hike
A 3,280-foot granite spire above Coyhaique. Group of four. Hike up in 1.5 hours (vs. the 6-hour district group hike that didn't make the summit). You at the top: cold winds, ripped Chile flag, selfies. You're the old fart of the group at 20.
Mason's scout campout
Mason went to Hopkins Cabin in Island Park, Idaho with the scouts. Same place I took the young men previously.

Teaching pool
Two new substantive investigators surfaced briefly:
- A man who uses drugs - being baptized soon ("once he get baptized") per your phrasing; further detail not clear.
- A "golden" woman - you put a baptismal date with her and handed her off to the elders' sector. She was hesitant at the moment of commitment so you told her to pray about it; you'd text her.

Elder Matthew - the gerbil and the cliff
The most memorable character of the call: Elder Matthew, who you describe as "Bryson with less brain cells." He called you a "gerbil" seven times today. He kept standing too close to the cliff edge while you had me on video and you had to repeatedly ask him to step back. Mom: "Hey, if she chooses to jump, will you at least take a video?" You: "Elder Maddie, if a demon comes and pushes you off the cliff, don't worry, I'll take a video."

Your observation: you have, somehow, become one of the most mature members of your district. I joked you undid any maturity credit by saying it. When pressed who was actually the most mature, you named Christian in the district.
