Snowder blitz + apology

Hermana Snowder is now an hermana líder and came to Valdivia for a blitz - a multi-day pairing where leaders come work other sectors with the local missionaries. You got to work with your own first trainer for a day. The notable moment: Snowder apologized unprompted for things she had said during your training. You didn't remember most of what Snowder was apologizing for. You had fun.

You also did a second exchange with a hermana very new in the mission (11-12 days). Helped her gain confidence. Felt good on both ends.

Mauricio - from 30 a day to 6

Mauricio (the Valdivia convert) is in the active quit-smoking arc. He had been smoking 30 cigarettes a day; today he smoked 6. You had to push his baptismal date back briefly because of the slip but it counts as 80% progress. Your other baptismal candidate is still on for April 4, 2026. Me: "He's trying real hard, and I think you do too."

Valdivia ward statistics

You shared: in the last year, the Valdivia ward has had 12 converts. Only 2 don't currently attend - one because he's always on drugs, the other because he moved and his son (your only contact) won't share the new address. A third of weekly church attendance is recent converts the missionaries have baptized. Your framing: "the center is incredible."

BYU-Idaho anxiety then trust

The morning's anxiety attack. You were mentally planning your redo of your first college semester (nutrition + chemistry + anatomy on a more manageable schedule) and got panicked: "Maybe I'm choosing wrong. Maybe I actually need to not go to the U." Your phone was at 2% battery so you put it down. Sat with it. Walked yourself through to a different framing:

"I just have to trust that God will bless me and bless my decision. Because if I don't feel right about either, well, I've got to choose one. I do not want to go to a school that is not a church school, so I have to choose one and I just have to trust that God will bless me and bless my decision. And I just needed to focus on the mission... Satan's going to try and make me doubt everything. Let's just give it a second. Let's not second-guess the second-guess."

You went to bed last night sick and wearing the BYU sweatshirt you had ordered from Amazon for Carlos. By the next morning the framing was holding. You'll keep the sweatshirt (my verdict: "especially now it's going to smell like you" - which will confuse Carlos because they like that smell).

Carlos and Victoria - coming to Valdivia

Victoria from Coyhaique sent you a message that she and Carlos will come visit you in Valdivia in three weeks (approximately late March 2026). Likely combined with a temple trip - they'll pass through Valdivia on the way.

Jobs in Logan area

You and Mom browsed nursing-adjacent jobs in the Logan area. The ideal: 1-3 evening shifts per week (4 PM start, 8:30 or 10 PM end) to keep money coming while school is the priority. Listings asked for EMT certification (you don't have) OR BLS - you have BLS, but it has expired and would need to be renewed. Mom noted some listings were for behavioral units with security guards for every patient. You: "Not what we're interested in."

My laser hair cap

Brief late-call thread. I have been wearing a laser hair-growth cap for some weeks. Effects take 6-12 months to show. You: "How do you know if it's even real?" Me: "Part of me just thinks I just bought into some stupid thing for everyone to laugh at me and steal my money." You jokingly offered to give me $20 to get dreads.
