February 15, 2025 · Herriman UT (Home MTC)

Snapshot

First weekly missionary email, sent Feb 15, 2025 during Home MTC. Covers her farewell Sunday, being set apart as a missionary, meeting companion Hermana Coltharp, twisting her ankle during exercise, and first lessons in Spanish. Closes with a spiritual thought on D&C 35:13-14, 17.

Week Highlights

Sunday (farewell) - Farewell sacrament meeting. Kristi and Natalie spoke; Jason gave an unexpected "popup performance" at the pulpit (advice to Kaitlynn over the pulpit, per her note he kept his "rockstar past" hidden). - Set apart as a missionary. She calls it a sweet experience.

Monday (first day Home MTC) - Met her companion: Hermana Coltharp - "the absolute sweetest girl ever." Instant click; calls it a tender mercy. - During exercise doing high-knees, twisted her ankle.

Tuesday - First full day of Spanish-only instruction from teachers. - Taught first lesson with Hermana Coltharp; the Holy Ghost was present. - Lessons on perfect obedience.

Wednesday - Workshop: "Becoming Disciples of Jesus Christ." - Attended John Seamons' mission call opening.

Thursday - Said first prayer in Spanish. Shaky but felt good. - Blizzard hit; had to join a class from the car.

Friday - District of 6 (3 companionships); all get along well. - PMG class on revelation; referenced Elder Bednar talk for missionaries (YouTube). - Had full Spanish conversation with teacher about families.

Saturday - Mostly packing for Mexico CCM departure.

Spiritual Thought

D&C 35:13-14, 17 - God calls us in our weakness and blesses us through afflictions. "In weakness have I blessed [you]." He expects effort, not perfection.
