Kaitlynn Weekly Email - Overdosing in Mexico

March 4, 2025 · Mexico CCM, Mexico City

Snapshot

Week 3 at the Mexico CCM. Subject refers to accidentally receiving multiple medication doses while sick with a sinus infection and fever (she notes upfront: "Don't worry I'm totally fine"). Called as STL (Sister Training Leader) with Hermana Coltharp. She told the Monday sick story twice - "Perspective 1" (frustrating version) and "Perspective 2" (gratitude version).

Week Highlights

Saturday - She and Hermana Coltharp called as Sister Training Leaders (STLs).

Monday (sick day) Perspective 1: Woke with sore throat. Language barrier with Spanish-only nurse led to receiving 4 separate tabs of random pills throughout the day just trying to get a rest break. Eventually the doctor confirmed a fever, gave an antibiotic shot, and sent her home early.

Perspective 2: Same events reframed. Hermana Coltharp was patient throughout. District sisters accompanied her to the infirmary and cheered her on. Teacher Hermana Cabrera sat with her and held her hand before the shot. She and Hermana Coltharp laughed uncontrollably at the absurdity on the walk home. Hermana Coltharp blow-dried her hair so she wouldn't sleep with it wet.

Spiritual Thought

1 Nephi 17:2-3 (Perspective 2). President Nelson: "The joy we feel has little to do with the circumstances of our lives and everything to do with the focus of our lives." (GC Oct 2016.)

Closing: "Instead of enduring to the end - enjoy to the end!!"
