Hermana Heywood

Kaitlynn in the Chile Puerto Montt Mission

Kaitlynn Weekly Email - We found a Haunted Mansion at the CCM

March 18, 2025 · Mexico CCM, Mexico City

Snapshot

Week 5 at the CCM. The "haunted mansion" is a summer-only classroom building, not in use. She and her district filmed videos there. Took final language assessment (highest score). Did sealings at the temple for the first time. T-minus 7 days to Chile.

Week Highlights

Thursday: Felt prompted to say hi to a small senior service missionary; gave her a hug and she teared up.

Sunday: Played piano for two musical numbers (one with 15-minute notice); music fell off the piano when AC turned on - played one-handed to catch it. The CCM president knows her by name because she always high-fives him and told him her Spanish name is "Hermana Hola-Madera" [a pun on Heywood: "hey"="hola" + "wood"="madera"].

Monday: Explored the summer-only classroom building (the "haunted mansion"). Filmed district videos. Took the language assessment - highest score yet. Asked the Latino districts if she could "be Latino"; they said yes. Did her own hair in braids (credits Kristi for braiding her hair growing up).

Tuesday: Last temple trip before the field (~17 months). Did sealings for the first time - "a very memorable experience." Hermanas wore matching Mexico skirts; district bought matching shirts.

Spiritual Thought

Ezekiel 34:11-12 - God seeks out His scattered flock. "If you feel lost turn to Him, if you feel alone He is there."

Closes with: "Next time I email I'll be a real chili's worker!" [Chile + worker = Chilean missionary]
