Kaitlynn Weekly Email - Last Week at CCM
Snapshot
Final week at the Mexico CCM before departing for Chile. Opens with two things forgotten from the prior email: an earthquake that evacuated the building, and receiving travel plans. Closes with a powerful testimony meeting where she felt deceased family members (Grandpa and Grandma Heywood, and Nathan) singing with her district. She left Mexico on March 25 (same day this email was sent).
Addendum from Prior Week
- Earthquake in Mexico: evacuated rooms for ~45 minutes; waited at meeting point with elders.
- Received her travel plans (Santiago via Aeromexico).
Week Highlights
Thursday: Scored 4.8 on the EI [language assessment], second best in class. An elder with appendicitis got a hernia from volleyball and "pushed it back in" after falling on a chair.
Saturday: Final testimony meeting. Much crying; Spirit very strong. Mid-meeting, felt Grandma and Grandpa Heywood and Nathan were present. During "Holding Hands Around the World," the sound multiplied far beyond their group - felt certain those family members were singing with them.
Sunday: Choir sang "A Child's Prayer." Devotional by Elder Uchtdorf. Said goodbye to many people. District send-off tunnel.
Monday (departure day): Final goodbyes; played volleyball; blessings of comfort from district elders.
Spiritual Thought
Mosiah 24:13-15 and Matthew 11:28-30 - God will strengthen us through our burdens; "I will ease the burdens which are put upon your shoulders."
Notes
- "Gma and Gpa Heywood and Nathan" - references deceased family members.
- Email sent early March 25 before her flight; she entered the field the same day.
