Week 3 in the field. Subject is mangled Spanish for "crusty white dogs" - the stray dogs of Punta Arenas. Travel week to Puerto Montt for zone conference. Got 2 more baptismal dates. Made her first solo street contact (stopped a stranger, full conversation, gospel principle, got contact info). Ate clams and fish for the first time.

Week Highlights

Tuesday (travel to Puerto Montt): Stayed with sisters from Peru and Argentina. Loved the Argentinian accent (double-L sounds like "sh").

Wednesday (Conferencia de Zona [Zone Conference]): Biggest takeaway: the importance of hard work and planning. A gringo bearing testimony in Spanish showed her how much she still has to learn. "God gave us brains for a reason." Heard from President and Hermana Gervic; felt their love.

Thursday (travel home): An elder challenged her to talk to the woman across the aisle on the flight. She did - full natural conversation in Spanish; shared about missionaries. "The gift of tongues is real!!"

Friday: Got 2 more fechas. Three good lessons. Singing lesson with a member who called Hermana Snowder "lame" for refusing the xylophone in sacrament meeting.

Saturday: First full solo contact - stopped a stranger, had a full conversation, taught a gospel principle, got contact info. Also taught a man who had followed them up to an apartment - turned out to be the ex-husband of an investigator. Taught him, the investigator, and her nephew about the Restoration; friend and nephew agreed to come to church.

Sunday (Conferencia de Estaca [Stake Conference]): Three investigators at church. Ate fresh fish and clams for the first time. Felt grandfather's presence during a priesthood blessing for a ward member who might have the same cancer.

Spiritual Thought - The Lord Provides

Alma 37:37 - "Counsel with the Lord in ALL thy doings." Had been relying on herself in lessons rather than on Christ. Lesson: let God be part of all aspects of life, not just Sundays.
