Kaitlynn Weekly Email - "I only have one rock"
Snapshot
Week 5. Temporary trio with Hermana Garcia (from Peru, Spanish-only). One new baptismal date (a man who went from never answering to a yes). Watched a baptism done by the elders. Memorable quote from a neighborhood kid: after a neighbor yelled "I only have one car!" the kid replied "I only have one rock" - and kept throwing it.

Week Highlights
Monday: Explored the Centro [downtown]; ate sushi with the elders. Brought home Hermana Garcia as temporary third companion. District council discussion on using members to sustain converts - cites Mason's favorite scripture, Mosiah 2:17.
Tuesday (trio, full English fast): Found 3 new people specifically because of Hermana Garcia's approach. Describes laughing with her - "half because they're funny, half because I have no idea what they just said."
Wednesday: A ward brother mentioned a family on his mind - they visited and found the father ("Javier") had recently passed. Taught the son about the plan of salvation and promise of seeing Javier again. Evidence of acting on promptings.
Thursday: Dreamed in "half Spanish." Taught a friend who had come to church and offered baptism; he said yes. "This man went from never answering us to having a baptismal date - Milagros milagros!!"
Friday: Good lesson with Rodrigo and ward member Hermano Solis (who are friends).
Saturday: Kids threw rocks into a puddle next to a neighbor's car. Neighbor yelled "I only have one car!" A boy paused, looked at him, then said "I only have one rock" - and kept going. Watched the elders' baptism (Kaitlynn and Hermana Snowder had referred the investigator to them).
Sunday: Two investigators showed up at church, then the twin boys mid-meeting. Helped with Primary - all the kids yelled "Hermanas!!" - "best moment."
Spiritual Thought
D&C 35:13-14 - "I call upon the weak things of the world...their arm shall be my arm, and I will be their shield." God does crazy things with unqualified people. 1 Nephi 4:6 - "I was led by the Spirit, not knowing beforehand the things which I should do."
People
- Hermana Garcia - missionary from Peru; Spanish-only; temporary third companion.
