Dear Hermanabanana,

It has been fun to see your pictures of you and Hermana Bird. It looks like you guys are getting along!

Tonight we are invited over to the Grant's house for ice cream. Colin said he would do one good one and one of his special masterpieces. It will not be the same without you there to make all his wishes come true.

Mason had his fifth grade program this week. They sang 50 Nifty United States. One of my all-time favorites.

I am praying for the spiritual gift of not being tacky. It may be a lifetime before I obtain it.

Bryson and I went to the temple. I live being there with you guys!

Anya and Ashley brought back your crockpot. They stayed for about an hour and visit with me. It was lots of fun to catch up. Ashley wants you guys all the live together once you get home from your missions. Anya would not commit to it, she just smiled awkwardly when Ashley asked.

We had Dad and Natalie show Benjo their calves. They are too good to not publicly display.

I love you! I'm proud of you!

Love,

Mom

(Lesson notes appended) Perhaps one of the more important lessons we learn from this is that the Lord expects us to be obedient and to do our part to prepare for desired blessings that can come our way in the future. Sister Holland spent a lifetime learning that she did not have to be Brother Holland. Her talents and gifts were different but no less valuable. Addressing an issue is different than resolving it. It may take more than one conversation to resolve everything. A good nights rest can also make things seem more clear. Dating is about more than spending time together. It is about making sure that your faith, values and goals align. The best gifts are the ones you need right now for your situation. Preference is not principle. Don't kill the joy of someone else's gift. You can be the ripest, juiciest peach in the world and some people just don't like peaches. Let people strive. Some people just don't like your flavor. The primary reason to avoid criticism is to protect the spiritual well-being of the criticizer. Gifts are given that all will be benefited. Criticism doesn't change people. People either change themselves or they are changed by the Holy Ghost. Keep practicing. There are way better boy than you ever were. It is age-appropriate. You are just fine. Because of Jesus. If you want to feel appreciated, go vertical, he will let you feel it. John Whitmer gets a calling he doesn't want. How often does that happen to all of us? Rejoice in the good they did in their season and let us not be the judge. Your job is not to judge the people in church history; your job is to take the principles taught and learn from them. We need each other. What spiritual gifts have you seen in others? What spiritual gift would be a blessing to you and those in your life right now? This is not who I am. God sees us, not just our mistakes. Listen to the voice that says good things about you. That is the Savior's. 5 had prepared. 5 were waiting. Peace comes with preparation. Spiritual confidence comes with preparation. What are you doing so early in the morning? I'm filling my lamp one drop at a time. What have you done with your time? Talents? Blessings?
