Dear Hermanalate for class,
You missed emotional damage class. Emotional damage class missed you!
(Lesson notes - emotional resilience) "Faith in Jesus Christ propels us to do things we otherwise would not do. Faith that motivates us to action gives us more access to His power. We also increase the Savior's power in our lives when we make sacred covenants and keep those covenants with precision. Our covenants bind us to Him and give us godly power" (Russell M. Nelson) Challenges or unexpected changes may seem unfair. We may be tempted to respond in ways that are unproductive and not Christlike: blame others, make excuses, rebel, complain, find fault, doubt, give up, procrastinate, get angry, indulge in self-pity, allow fear to rule, self-justify. Becoming emotionally resilient involves recognizing these responses in ourselves and using our agency to choose a more appropriate response. Each week we will learn new skills to help us "act for [ourselves] and not to be acted upon" (2 Nephi 2:26). Consider something you want to improve or change in your life. How could my life be different when I make this change? Goals: What can you do this week to draw closer to Christ? What unhealthy response do you need to focus on changing? Show gratitude each day.
I couldn't figure out who dad was talking to tonight. He kept laughing. You make him very happy.
Bryson came home for Father's Day. That made it super fun. Except the kids were laughing during church, right when Jen Jessop was crying in her talk. It was like Derek and the squirrel all over again.
I petted Indy. I know it was crazy.
Dad and the Littles loved Moab. They had so much fun.
I taught Sunday School. I told them that the passion is real. Mason's teacher said the same thing in his class. But he said she was talking about the fake passion. I have no idea what he thinks is the real passion!
I love you. I'm proud of you.
Love,
Mom
(Appended quote) Sister Kristin M. Yee: "If you are struggling with a situation you think you should have overcome by now, don't give up. Be patient with yourself, keep your covenants, repent often, seek the help of your leaders if needed, and go to the house of the Lord as regularly as you can. Listen for and heed the promptings He sends you. He will not abandon His covenant relationship with you."
