Multi-week update (forgot to send prior week's email). Notable contacts: the Viking family (believes in Valhalla), a woman breaking every part of the Word of Wisdom but coming to church, an elderly woman with a rat dog. Taught the First Vision and felt the room go quiet. Celebrated 100 years of the Church in South America as a stake. Made gnocchi from scratch.
Week Highlights
- Investigator with cancer; operation to remove a tumor that Friday. Lesson with him: taught the Restoration and Kaitlynn recited the First Vision. "The Spirit was palpable. Everything around us quieted down."
- The Viking family (Claudio and family): believe in Valhalla; offered to give them tattoos (only temporary because "we're mormons"); send funny WhatsApp stickers; call Kaitlynn "Freya" because she wouldn't tell them her first name.
- One investigator is violating every part of the Word of Wisdom (cocaine, marijuana, smoking, drinking) but came to church. "God is good everyone and it doesn't matter what you've done He can heal you."
- Elderly woman with a rat dog; offers mate and moldy food; Spirit was strong with her and her grandson.
- Celebrated 100 years of the Church in South America as a stake. Dancing, food, music; the band played 80s music. Broadcast of the Tabernacle Choir - Spirit very strong. Missionaries sang "Called to Serve."
- Made potato chips and gnocchi pasta from scratch with Hermana Pehrson.
Spiritual Thought
Steven D. Shumway (GC Apr 2025): "If Christ were physically here, He would visit the sick, teach the Sunday School class, sit with the heartbroken young woman, and bless the children. He can do His own work. But He sends us in His place." We are what Christ needs - not our perfection, but us.
