Kaitlynn Weekly Email - "I hate new york city" -hna soares
Snapshot
A hard week - the "struggle bus." Dropped Juan Pablo (the Jehovah's Witness) after he said he wouldn't be baptized anytime soon. Jose Luis almost made it to church (his car broke down). New district is "fire." A ward scripture trivia night - shout-out to Kristi for playing with her growing up.
Week Highlights
Monday: Said goodbye to their district, signed "trunky books" [memory books for missionaries going home], drank mate.
Tuesday: Four straight hours of door-knocking. All planned lessons fell through. Found several people with potential. A drunk man told her Chile is better than Europe (she's from the USA).
Wednesday: Visited an elderly ward woman - "so much sass." Lesson with Hno Pedro (generous, said they're the best missionaries; they won't return without a member).
Thursday: Their "carpeta" [missionary app for tracking investigators] stopped working - did weekly planning in Samsung Calendar.
Friday: Met the new district - "fire missionaries." Ward scripture trivia night - shout-out to Kristi for playing the scripture trivia game "in the red box" with her whole life. Jose Luis said he'd come to church because he wanted to.
Saturday: "Charla franca" [frank discussion] with Juan Pablo. He said he wasn't coming to church and maybe wanted to be baptized but not anytime soon. They dropped him.
Sunday: Called Jose Luis; he answered but his car broke down - couldn't come. Their neighbor gave them a free taxi ride to church again. Some less-active members returned.
Spiritual Thought
"This life isn't a sprint, it's a marathon." On a hard week; making mistakes; learning to yoke to Christ rather than carry the burden alone. Matthew 11:28-30; D&C 35:13. "I'm not perfect but that's not what I'm here for, I'm here to keep going."
Notes
- "I hate New York City" - quote from Hermana Soares, context unexplained (inside joke).
