Kaitlynn Weekly Email - For you 🤍✨️
Snapshot
Week 36. First talk in Spanish in sacrament meeting. Zone conference with a deep focus on the Atonement of Jesus Christ - described as life-changing. Her stated motivation for being on the mission changed: from social reasons to "because that's what Jesus wants." A bishopric member texted mid-sacrament asking one of them to speak; they played cachipun [rock paper scissors in Chilean slang]; both ended up speaking.
Week Highlights
- Found "pablito de la tierra" ["little Pablo of the earth" - they think he has earth-magic/monk energy].
- Fun lesson with Manuel - "average 40-something bachelor with a sick car and lady friends" - many random questions.
- Bishopric member texted mid-sacrament asking one of them to speak. Played cachipun [rock paper scissors]; Hermana Soares lost. Then another text: both needed to speak. "In the end we both won."
- First talk in Spanish: "went pretty darn okay."
ZONE CONFERENCE: - "Best conferencia of my life." - Saw all her closest friends; recruited some to college. - Ended singing "Seamos Unidos" [Let Us All Press On] in Spanish - powerful. - Main topic: The Atonement of Jesus Christ. Study: "The Purifying Power of Gethsemane" (Elder Hafen, GC Apr 1985). - Her realization: she didn't originally come on the mission because Jesus wanted her to. "But talking about the Savior changed me. My reasons for everything I do have changed. Instead of being a missionary because the people around me can see me, I'm a missionary because that's what Jesus wants."
Central message of the email (centered, as written):
When Christ was suffering, ready to "let [that] cup pass from [him]"
He thought of youYour worth to Him, His love for you, your potential
And He kept on going
For you.
Spiritual Thought
"Christ knows. He's lived your life. Let Him in completely, choose to make Him the reason, make Him your why."
Notes
- This appears to be a significant spiritual turning point in Kaitlynn's mission.
