Hello Kaitlynn,

I just want you to know you can do this. Sometimes God puts a Goliath in our lives so we can see the David within us. I'm so excited for this opportunity you have to love and serve your companion. To look through annoyances and see places where you can love and build. To grow charity a little more every day.

As you learn your new area, remember 2 things.

  1. It is ok not to know all the answers, and it's ok to admit that.

  2. The Lord knows you, your situation your weaknesses and insecurities, but he also knows your strengths, your character, your testimony, your heart, your personality and your sense of humor. Whatever you lack, he will make up the difference. He promises: "Whom the Lord calls, the Lord qualifies." God trusts you, and sometimes he sends us to bike uphills to give us strength, other times so we can see we can do what we never thought we were capable of. When the path feels uncertain, hold tight to Nephi's words: "I was led by the Spirit, not knowing beforehand the things which I should do…NEVERTHELESS I WENT FORTH. You do not need to know everything — you just be you. Do the things that invite the spirit, follow the promptings and you'll be ok.

The first day I went out tracting in Philly with my new greenie, I stopped at the street corner to look at my planner and check the time. A bird then laid a giant poo all over my head and blue planner. It was a funny moment, and one I think we both needed. I'd also like to think that that same bird was the one I later punted against a brick building, thinking there was now way I was fast enough to actually kick it. I was fast enough.

Have an amazing day, laugh at the failures and bask in the successes. Choose to be positive and say positive things in your head as you go out into the world. Avoid negative self talk. There is nothing that you experience that won't be for your good if you let it.
